Covers: Bayern
South-Eastern Germany is almost entirely Bavaria and brings together very different microclimates under one roof. The Alpine foothills around Munich and Augsburg have warm summers (21–24 °C) but cooler nights and frequent Föhn conditions. Higher elevations in the Bavarian Forest or Allgäu are significantly cooler and windier, while the Danube plain and Lower Franconia (Würzburg) are nearly as warm as the south-west. For outdoor cultivation in the Bavarian lowlands, early to mid-season strains work well; at elevations above 500 m growers should stick to particularly early indicas or robust automatics. The timing of Oktoberfest is no coincidence: by mid-October, the first frost arrives.
Grow-Tipps
In the lowlands, strains with 9–10 week flowering times perform well. At elevations above 400 m use only early strains (under 8 weeks) or automatics. Föhn winds can accelerate ripening but also cause damage — anchor plants securely. Indoor growers benefit from cool Bavarian nights for more efficient LED heat dissipation.
